It follows him through basic training, shipment overseas to the Pacific Theater of Operations and his assignment to the 136th Field Artillery Battalion of the 37th Infantry Division on Bougainville in the Solomon Islands for the invasion of Luzon in the Philippines and concludes with the defeat of the Japanese on that island and his return home. It is sad, but this great nation is gradually losing our brave soldiers from the WWII era, those who know first hand what it is like to actually put your life on the line for the just cause of freedom, as it happened in the early 1940's.
